The last stop on our trip was Đà Nẵng. Since we took the bus from Hue to Hoi An to Da Nang, today it was time to take the train back to Hanoi. Ahhh, the Đà Nẵng train station. We bought tickets before we went to the beach, and had a lot of time before the train would leave. We rented a motorbike for the afternoon to go around and see everything.... Yep, lots of time before the train leaves.... nothing to worry about.....
We had lots of time, so we visited the great beach. Even on a cloudy day you can see how nice it is...
Wowow Thao can jump sooo high??
Thao studied karate in Japan, and here she is practicing on the beach. I think it is just so she can beat me up!
Her pants look funny heheh... but all her pants got wet because it was raining every day, so she had to wear mine!
A pirate on the beach!
We'll be together forever!
It doesn't look like much, but turn it over and it becomes a good fishing boat. The fishermen go out in the ocean in this little boat to catch fish
After the beach, we went to Ngũ Hành Sơn (dãy núi có 5 ngọn). Because we had lots of time before the train leaves...... Lots of time..... On the bus ride to Đà Nẵng, Thao was talking to some army guys who guard this mountain, and they said that there was a curse that any couples who go up the mountain will break up... So Thao didn't want to take any chances, and was scared to go up... So she stayed here at the ticket booth and I had to go by myself. Okay hunny, thanks for worrying for us like that
OMG so many steps? Heyyyy, that is the real reason why you didn't want to come up, right??
At the top of the steps is a pagoda, so you can give thanks for making it up alive!
The view from the top of the mountain. You can see the beach, and many new hotels and resorts that are being built. In a few years, I'm sure Đà Nẵng will be much busier...
Looking up from in a dark cave
In the cave.
Ok, one last picture on the mountain...
Back to Đà Nẵng city, but still some time before the train leaves... So let's find some more specialty food to eat! We ordered mì quảng and this is bánh tráng quấn thịt lợn. This is Thao's favorite food, so she kept eating....... Uh oh, what time is it??? OMG time to catch the train, go go go!!! No Thao, stop eating, go go! Oh noooooo the motorbike wouldn't start because of the rain........ We got on a xe om and just left the motorbike at the resteraunt.... Just as we got to the train station and tried to explain where the rented motorbike was, I saw the train leaving for Hanoi... Our tickets were useless now, can't even use it to take a later train!!
Since it was the last train of the day, we had to take the bus.... Omg, take the BUS from Da Nang to Hanoi??? But we had no choice since we wanted to be home for New Year's... We took xe om quick to the bus station, at least we were there an hour before the last bus. So we just stayed in our seat for one hour and waited! Poor Thao was so sad and cried because she thought we missed the train because she wanted to keep eating some more Da Nang specialty food before we left.... But no hunny, we wasted so much time when the motorbike wouldn't start, and only was like 1 minute late..
Oh wait... The guy next to me was talking to Thao that he always likes to take the bus instead of the train... The bus today is very nice, different from before when you had to share your seat with chickens and pigs and bad smells. Yes, he was right, the bus only cost 190.000 dong ($11) but they give you a nice free dinner, free bottle of water, even a toothbrush the next morning! It was still hard to sleep sitting in the chair of course, but not too bad... The trip was done, finally made it back to Hanoi and can sleep in our own bed and celebrate the new year. Even though it was raining for the whole trip, I'm happy for the chance to see more of Vietnam... Hope to see more and more soon. Thank you sooooo much hun for taking all those pictures even thought it was verry cold for you and raining everyday...

Information about MỸ SƠN:
In Duy Phu village, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, at My Son valley, there is still
a most important complex of Hindu temple-towers which is a symbol of the Champa art
and continuously developed from the 4th century to the 13th century.
The ancient Champa people were raised to be "the masters of art in building brick." So far
the technique in building the ancient temple-towers of Champa people remains controversial.
The bricks were smoothed and laid closely and securely without mortar. My Son's value is also
reflected in the art of lively and fine sculpture and carving on brick, stone from the images of
deities, priests, dances, plants, animals and sacrifices...
Because of its prominent value as an example of cultural exchange andintegration of external
cultures, especially the art and architecture of hinduism with the native culture, combined
with lively reflection of the Champa kingdom in south east asia cultural history, in December
1999, UNESCO listed My Son a world cultural heritage.
Go to MỸ SƠN from HỘI AN by xe ôm. I know that "ôm" means hug, but no way was I going
to hug this guy!
Welcome to My Son! After a very long ride in the cold rain, it is good to finally be here...
Oh wait, still 1km to go until we get there?? Luckily we got a ride in an old army jeep.
.
Notice how the sky is perfectly white, like the webpage background!
I was bad, so I got sent to My Son jail...
.

Even if it was very raining and cold, and feet hurting from so much walking, but Thao still took
lots of great pictures! Thanks hunny, my greatest photographer!
