Our weekend shopping trip to Lang Son. It is right on the border with China, so there are many
cheap things to buy. We left Hanoi bright and early, 6:30am
Arito, Angela, Thao, and Kyle.
We got in the car again to go to the Tam Thanh border. The car ride is about 4 hours from Hanoi, so it can make you kind of crazy! :P
Angela speaks Japanese and English too, and Arito is always practicing his Vietnamese. Yes, I
really should start learning too, xin lỗi! :)
I tried to learn new dangerous word: quả bưởi :))
At the border crossing to China, the Tan Thanh border. Thao didn't want me to get in this pic, but suddenly I jumped in :))
Awwww so cute :)
Trying to find the best deal on cheap watches. I think I sat in the same spot for probably 2
hours waiting for them.... The watches were pretty good for only 35.000 dong!
Nice expensive cars, and then you see cows walking down the street... I don't know where
they were going, but there sure wasn't anyone with them to guide them. I think they must
have gotten sick of living in China and decided to move to Vietnam... :))
This is how I looked when shopping, don't laugh! :P I bought very nice umbrella for just
40.000 d, oh yes it was raining but that couldn't stop us from shopping :)
The girls found this sign funny. Maybe somebody can tell me why.... :P
There's always something fun to try on! I wish Arito bought that hat! hehehe
Thao looks great as always! :)
A little bit tired after so many hours of shopping, but this was only the first stop! Still many
other markets to visit today before dark.
I don't know what that fruit is that Thao is holding, but she eventually bought a whole bag of
them! When you pick it up it feels like it is filled with air and is so light, like a pingpong ball.
My turn to try on a hat... I liked it but I don't think it's a good idea for a white person to wear
an army hat in Vietnam.........
The girls were happy after a long day of shopping :)
Stopping on the way back. From the picture it looks like we stopped because we saw these two
girls at the side of the road, but no not like that :P
Thao explains how bugs bit her ass when she was peeing in the grass... At least you can see
her nice new watch :)
Thao likes to make her own clothes when she is feeling stressed (you can see that popular sexy
shirt in Halong bay entry, yes she made it, isn't it sexy?), so she bought a little hand sewing
machine for 10,000 dong. Of course it took about 2 minutes before it was completely
broken! "Made in China" :P
Arito had bought some "sex pills" today for fun, so I imagined he would be even more
disappointed when those didn't work too hehehehe.
We arrived back in Hanoi at 10:00 pm... A bit tired but still excited with what we bought
today :)
